Persecuted Church

In 2 Thessalonians, the persecuted Church continues to suffer. They participate in God's kingdom and show victory over the world with non-violent and patient endurance.

Pain is Temporary

When Jesus returns, He will bring final justice on those who persecute believers. They will experience relational distance from God their creator, the ultimate tragedy.

Day of the Lord

Thessalonian Christians feared they missed Jesus' second coming. Paul reminds them it will be obvious. In the meantime, they should remain faithful, hopeful, and confident.

Evil Will be Destroyed

Since Isaiah and Daniel, evil rulers rebelled against God and exalted themselves above Him. Jesus will return to confront evil perpetrators and deliver His people.

Challenge to the Idle

Followers of Jesus should not be idle but should imitate His self-giving love by working hard so they provide for themselves and benefit others.
