Bartholomew, also known as Nathanael, was one of the original Twelve Apostles (1) of Jesus Christ (2). He is mentioned in most New Testament (3) translations about a dozen times.

The Gospel of John (4) offers the account of the Apostle Philip (5) and Nathanael being called by Christ to follow Him (6). When Philip first told him that they had found "the one Moses (7) wrote about in the Law (8), and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph,” Nathanael replied incredulously, “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” When Jesus said of Nathanael, “Here truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit," he replied, "“Rabbi, you are the Son of God (9); you are the king of Israel” (John 1:43-49). What a transformation!

The synoptic Gospels of Matthew (10), Mark (11) and Luke (12) refer to Bartholomew as one of the Twelve Apostles being named/commissioned/sent out (Matthew 10:1-4, Mark 3:13-19, Luke 6:12-16).

The account of the Miraculous Catch of 153 Fish, the final miracle (13) of Jesus recorded in the Holy Bible (14), discloses that Nathanael was from Cana (John 21:1-14).

Acts 1:12-26 records Bartholomew and the other Apostles returning to Jerusalem after witnessing the Ascension of Jesus into Heaven. By the power of the Holy Spirit (15), they selected Matthias to replace Judas Iscariot (16).
